Washing Different School Uniform Pieces Correctly

16 July, 2018

We hate to break it to you, but although summer holidays are well underway, time flies when you’re having fun. Before you know it, it’s back-to-school madness which includes rushing to order your school supplies and uniforms.

With over 50 years experience in supplying students with school uniforms in Malta, we at Yorkie know the importance of washing different materials correctly. Here are our washing instructions that will not only have your children looking crisp and well-groomed, but will also help prolong the uniform’s lifespan and in turn, save you money.

1. Casual & Sportswear

Polo-shirts, PE T-shirts, Caps

Perhaps the most frequently washed, polo-shirts and P.E. T-shirts are both made from 100% cotton, and along with caps, are objects of a normal/regular wash cycle, at a maximum temperature of 30 °C.

Tracksuit & Kinder Jogging Suit
Tracksuits should be washed in cold water only, while jogging suits at a temperature that doesn’t exceed 30 °C. Do not tumble dry, spin or leave either of them to soak.

2. Formal

Skirts, Trousers/Knee-Length Shorts

Made from Poly/viscose Gabardine, these three school uniform pieces take a normal wash at a maximum temperature of 30 °C.

Long-Sleeve V-Neck Jerseys
Our jerseys are made using acrylic and wool and have the college name embroidered on them. It is important to hand wash the jersey in cold water and avoid tumble drying, spinning, wringing or leaving them to soak.

Blazers
Blazers are worn with a wide variety of clothes, and are probably the most formal-looking item of clothing, completing the uniform’s overall look. Complete with the school name on the breast pocket and an embroidered full-colour logo, the blazer is the only item that must be dry-cleaned.

3. Accessories

Ties, Scarves & Anoraks
The ties, as well as scarves and waterproof anorak jackets that we manufacture must be hand washed. It is imperative that they are neither machine washed, tumble dried nor left to soak.

Following these instructions carefully will help ensure the only reason to purchase new uniform items are when your child grows out of them! As the only government-approved school uniform supplier in Malta, our team at Yorkie strive to provide an unparalleled service to our customers.

Don’t forget that we also offer the option of ordering your school uniforms (with an attached size chart) online to avoid the September rush! Either way, rest assured that we offer the highest quality after-sales service and school uniforms Malta has to offer!
